The airport sector in Brazil has space for investments in the engineering area, as it needs to improve its infrastructure with the construction and renovation of terminals at airports, hangars, and other related works.
MCDI was founded in the city of Sao Paulo to innovate and not just be another construction company. To this end, it brought together professionals with experience and able to immerse themselves in each project, analyze with great discretion, and offer a differentiated look, combining cutting-edge technology and technical expertise with competitive prices.
And all this expertise was put into the challenge of building the hangar for LATAM, in Sao Carlos-SP. The work carried out is part of the LOPA project, which aims to redesign all LATAM aircraft. The challenge was to transform a conventional industrial structure that housed the old Airplane Museum into a hangar. The existing building must be partially demolished and suitable to house large aircraft.
The built hangar has an area of 5,000 m² covered and an external aircraft yard of 4,000 m². The work began in December 2018, and the construction service evolved in parallel with the development of the projects, thus aiming to enable the short-term challenge proposed by the client. To this end, MCDI used specialists, coordinated the projects and, with the support of suppliers with experience in the construction of hangars, was able to achieve the objective with a lot of motivation and work from the entire team.
